Cybot

Cybot1Cybot came on the market as magazine: every few weeks new parts of the robot were delivered by mail.  Soon after the start people world wide started modifying the robot. The robot should be programmable after about  1 1/2  to 2 years! Being not so patience I removed the pre-programmed uprocessor and added a Basic Stamp 2 to the robot. The basic functions like line following, object avoidance and light following remained available. I also added a IR tranceiver being able to control the robot with my IR RC.

The Basics Stamp (and the software that comes with it) is very user friendly and gives an easy oppurtunity to get into uprocessors. The big disadvantage of the processors is their price (although the software is free).

The Cybot magazine still is on the market, however since the big 'hype' is over no technical details are presented here. If you're are interested in this details you can email me.

Picture shows the Cybot. Also visible is the IR transceiver (Parallax IR Buddy pair). This is used for IR RC control of the Cybot.

Picture shows the new experimental processor board with the RS232 connector for programming and communication with the PC. The PCB looks a bit messy but just a few extra components were added.
